When Is It Time to Buy a New Mattress?

Published by BedsonSale on 28th Mar 2024

A good night's sleep is essential for our overall well-being, and a quality mattress plays a pivotal role in achieving that. However, mattresses don't last forever, and over time, they can lose their comfort and support. Knowing when it's time to bid farewell to your old mattress and invest in a new one is crucial for maintaining optimal sleep quality. In this blog post, we will explore the signs that indicate it's time to buy a new mattress, helping you make an informed decision for a restful and rejuvenating sleep experience.

Age of the Mattress:

The age of your mattress is often a reliable indicator that it may be time for a replacement. While the lifespan of a mattress can vary depending on its quality and usage, most mattresses are designed to last between 7 to 10 years. If your mattress has surpassed this timeframe, it's likely that it has started to deteriorate in terms of comfort and support. Even if it appears visually intact, the internal components, such as the foam or springs, may have worn out, compromising its ability to provide a restful sleep surface.

Sagging and Indentations:

One of the most noticeable signs of an aging mattress is sagging and the formation of permanent indentations. Over time, the materials within the mattress can break down, causing certain areas to sink or lose their original shape. If you find yourself rolling towards the centre of the bed or experiencing uncomfortable pressure points due to noticeable dips and depressions, it's a clear indication that your mattress has lost its supportive structure. This lack of proper support can lead to restless nights and morning aches and pains.

Discomfort and Lack of Support:

As mattresses age, they gradually lose their ability to provide adequate comfort and support to your body. If you consistently wake up feeling stiff, achy, or not well-rested, despite getting a full night's sleep, it may be a sign that your mattress is no longer meeting your needs. Your body's natural alignment should be maintained during sleep, and an aging mattress may fail to distribute your weight evenly, leading to discomfort and restless tossing and turning throughout the night.

Allergies and Irritations:

Over time, mattresses can accumulate allergens, dust mites, and other microorganisms that can trigger allergies or irritate respiratory conditions. If you find yourself frequently sneezing, experiencing nasal congestion, or suffering from unexplained skin irritations or itching, it could be a sign that your mattress has become a breeding ground for these allergens. Even with regular cleaning, older mattresses may harbor microscopic particles that can negatively impact your sleep quality and overall health.

Partner Disturbance:

If you share your bed with a partner, an aging mattress can exacerbate the issue of partner disturbance. As the mattress loses its ability to absorb movement, you may be more likely to feel every toss, turn, or change in position made by your partner throughout the night. This can disrupt your sleep, leading to a constant state of restlessness and potential strain on your relationship. Investing in a new mattress with enhanced motion isolation can greatly improve your sleep quality, allowing both you and your partner to enjoy undisturbed rest.

Your mattress plays a crucial role in your sleep quality, overall health, and well-being. Knowing when it's time to buy a new mattress is essential for ensuring a comfortable and rejuvenating sleep experience. If your mattress is over 7 to 10 years old, shows signs of sagging and indentations, fails to provide adequate support, triggers allergies or irritations, or causes partner disturbance, it's a clear indication that it's time for an upgrade. What People Are Saying - 5 Star Google Customer Reviews

Comfy!

The one bed store we always came back to after visiting couple others. Glenn and Rachael were very nice and knowledgeable, not pushy at all for the sales. We bought a king bed on Sunday afternoon and Glenn delivered it and helped assembling it on the same day after hearing we only have a single bed!

Amazing Service!

Came in at 1:20 in the afternoon expecting a next day delivery but the owner offered to personally deliver it after closing when I told him I was sleeping on an air mattress, amazing service

June Birch

Legit!

What? It’s as good as the reviews say, they’re all legit? Yep. I went in about 1pm, described my back problem to Glenn, he recommended a couple of mattresses, I tried lying on them, chose the most comfortable. Added the wonderful alpaca pillows. Paid the bill, out by 1:45pm. Glenn delivered the mattress at 5pm, same day. No waiting six weeks, as the department store said.
